GTA VI Returns to Vice City: Release Date, Price, Trailers, and Confirmed Details

Posted on December 5, 2023August 3, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Rockstar’s crime epic now has a November 2026 launch date

Grand Theft Auto VI returns to Vice City with two protagonists, a wider state to explore, and a criminal partnership placed at the center of the story.

Rockstar Games will release GTA VI on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC version has been officially announced.

Update: This article was originally published after the first trailer in December 2023. It has been completely revised to reflect the current release date, platforms, pricing, second trailer, characters, and locations confirmed by Rockstar.

The first trailer introduced Lucia, the modern version of Vice City, and a world shaped by crime, parties, beaches, social media, and public chaos. The second GTA VI trailer later gave us a much clearer picture of Lucia, Jason, and the trouble surrounding them.

Vice City Returns Inside a Much Larger Leonida

Vice City remains the recognizable heart of the setting, but it is only one part of the fictional state of Leonida.

Rockstar has introduced several locations beyond the neon-lit city, including the Leonida Keys, the wetlands of Grassrivers, the declining coastal community of Port Gellhorn, the industrial town of Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.

The footage moves between crowded beaches, highways, nightclubs, convenience stores, rural roads, swamps, and expensive waterfront properties. It suggests a setting built around the contrast between holiday paradise and the criminal economy operating beneath it.

You can see more of that broader world in our gallery covering Rockstar’s extensive collection of GTA VI screenshots.

Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos Share the Lead

Lucia Caminos enters the story after leaving Leonida Penitentiary. She wants the better life her mother once imagined, but she intends to reach it through carefully planned criminal work rather than wishful thinking.

Jason Duval grew up around criminals before joining the Army and eventually becoming involved with drug runners in the Leonida Keys. His relationship with Lucia could offer both of them a way out, although their plans quickly become more dangerous than expected.

According to the official premise, an apparently easy score goes wrong and leaves the pair caught inside a conspiracy stretching across Leonida. Their partnership is therefore more than a romance or a convenient gameplay pairing. Each may need the other to survive.

The Supporting Cast Expands the Criminal World

Rockstar has also introduced several people connected to Leonida’s criminal, music, and drug businesses.

Jason’s contacts include conspiracy-minded Cal Hampton and veteran smuggler Brian Heder. Vice City businessman Boobie Ike operates a legitimate empire alongside his less respectable interests, while Dre’Quan Priest is attempting to establish Only Raw Records.

The cast also includes social-media rap duo Real Dimez and experienced bank robber Raul Bautista. These characters suggest that Jason and Lucia’s story will cross several different parts of Leonida rather than remaining focused on one criminal organization.

The Release Date Has Changed Twice

GTA VI was originally announced for 2025. It was later moved to May 26, 2026, before Rockstar settled on the current November 19, 2026 date.

That makes the information in the original version of this article obsolete. Unless another official change is announced, November 19 is the date console players should now use.

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Are Confirmed—PC Is Not

Rockstar currently lists only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The previous version of this article incorrectly included PC among the confirmed platforms.

No Windows edition, PC release date, system requirements, ultrawide support, or PC storefront has been announced. That does not prove a PC version will never appear; it simply means one is not official at this time.

GTA VI Starts at $79.99

The Standard Edition costs $79.99, while the $99.99 Ultimate Edition includes additional vehicles, weapons, clothing, and activities threaded through Jason and Lucia’s story.

Preorders are open. Purchases made before November 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack, while digital preorders also receive one month of GTA+.

Digital preloading begins November 12. Take-Two also says the physical edition becomes available on that date but contains a download code inside the box rather than a game disc.

What the First Trailer Still Tells Us

Trailer 1 remains an effective introduction to modern Leonida. Its viral clips, reckless public behavior, crowded beaches, live streams, police footage, and social-media posts show a world where crime becomes entertainment almost immediately.

Trailer 2 adds more narrative weight, but the first reveal established the atmosphere: a bright, crowded holiday destination where nearly everyone appears to be filming, selling, stealing, or performing for somebody else.

A Long Wait, but a Much Clearer Game

The original article ended with excitement and very little confirmed information. We now know considerably more about the protagonists, supporting cast, state of Leonida, console platforms, editions, and final stretch toward release.

GTA VI still has plenty left to prove, particularly in how its enormous world supports the story and how well it performs on both consoles. What is already clear is that Rockstar is building its return to Vice City around more than nostalgia.
