Hypercharge Is the Toy Story We All Need — 80,000 Wishlists and Counting on PlayStation

Posted on April 24, 2025May 8, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Some games come out of nowhere and just click. Hypercharge: Unboxed is one of them.

Since announcing its upcoming PlayStation release just over three weeks ago, this indie action-figure shooter has already been wishlisted by over 80,000 PlayStation players. That’s a huge milestone for a small dev team — and proof that yes, people still love fun, creative, and downright nostalgic games.

Hypercharge: Unboxed

Release Date: Available Now (Upcoming on PS4/PS5)

Genre: Co-op FPS, Action, Indie

Developer/Publisher: Digital Cybercherries

Platforms:

PlayStation Store |
Steam |
Xbox Store |
Nintendo eShop |

If you haven’t heard of it yet, Hypercharge lets you play as a small action figure fighting to protect your base — on shelves, in garages, in bedrooms — from waves of chaotic enemies. Think Toy Story meets Call of Duty Zombies, but co-op, fun-focused, and made by a team that clearly grew up in the ’90s.

It’s not just a game. It’s a childhood throwback with real heart.

The devs — a small crew at Digital Cybercherries — have been pouring love into this game for years. It’s already out on PC, Xbox, and Switch. And on Xbox alone? It sold over 80,000 copies shortly after launch. Now it’s PlayStation’s turn, and fans are showing up big.

“In just over 3 weeks since announcing our action figure game is coming to PlayStation, over 80,000 players have already wishlisted it.” — @HyperchargeGame on X (formerly Twitter)

That said, there’s a catch. Unlike Steam, where wishlists help boost visibility, PlayStation doesn’t currently promote wishlist-heavy titles in the same way. So even with that 80K number, Hypercharge might not get the spotlight it deserves unless we, we-the players, creators, and media outlets—help put it there.

Why This Matters (Especially to Indie Fans)

Hypercharge isn’t just another shooter. It’s a passion project that nails something most AAA titles forget: games should be fun. They should make you smile. They should make you remember.

And when a small team gets this kind of traction without millions in marketing money, it reminds us why indie games matter. It reminds us what makes gaming special in the first place.

So, whether you’re reliving your childhood toy battles or just want something refreshing and fun to play with friends, give this one a look.

Final Thoughts

Hypercharge: Unboxed shows that creativity and heart can still win in gaming. With a growing community, nostalgic charm, and a small but passionate dev team behind it, this game is definitely worth your attention. Don’t miss out on the action!
