Players Are Still Waiting for the Frozen Survival Game
One question keeps coming up around Permafrost: when does it launch?
That is fair. The frozen open-world survival game from SpaceRocket Games and Toplitz Productions made a strong impression during its earlier demo period, and since then, players have been watching the Steam page closely. The short answer is simple: Permafrost is currently planned for Early Access in 2026. There is no exact day or month publicly confirmed yet.
The official Steam page currently lists Planned Release Date: 2026 and still shows the game as not yet available. Players can wishlist it and request access to the current playtest.

Why the Wait Feels So Long
The waiting time feels longer because Permafrost already had a visible demo push. During Steam Next Fest in October 2024, Toplitz Productions said the demo reached the number 3 spot in “Trending and Upcoming Games” and reached number 7 for “Most Popular Demos” in its first few days. The same update also said the demo would remain on Steam with hotfixes for improved stability.
That gave survival players a real taste of the game early, but it also created a long gap between interest and release. For players who tried the demo, wishlisted it, or kept following updates, the obvious question now is not whether Permafrost exists, but when it finally opens the door properly.
The Current Answer: 2026 Early Access
Toplitz Productions later confirmed that Permafrost is now planned to enter Early Access in 2026 on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. The publisher said the team needed more time for finetuning and performance optimization, with the goal of giving players a stronger Early Access foundation rather than rushing the game out too early.
That is an important distinction. This is not a confirmed full 1.0 launch date. It is the planned Early Access release window. Steam also notes that the team expects the game to stay in Early Access for at least 12 months, with future updates planned around more biomes, quests, mechanics, quality-of-life features, and technical optimization.
For now, the clearest public answer is: Permafrost is still planned for Early Access in 2026, but no exact launch date has been announced.
What Is Permafrost?
Permafrost places players in a frozen post-apocalyptic world shaped by cold, danger, and survival.
The current public launch window for Permafrost remains Early Access in 2026.
Permafrost is an open-world survival game set after a cataclysmic event leaves Earth buried under ice and snow. Players scavenge, craft, build, hunt, restore technology, and try to survive against cold weather, hunger, exhaustion, wildlife, hostile factions, and the environment itself.
The game supports solo play and online co-op for up to four players. A rescued dog companion also plays a role as an early-warning system and helper, while the world itself is built around frozen cities, buried forests, caves, camps, cold zones, and remnants of lost technology.
For survival fans, that combination is exactly why the launch question keeps coming back. The concept has a clear hook: a harsh frozen world, base building, co-op survival, narrative threads, and a setting that looks more dangerous than cozy.
We Have Asked for a Short Statement
Fix Gaming Channel has asked Toplitz Productions for a short statement on whether a narrower 2026 launch window can be shared. If we receive an official update, clarification, or statement, we will add it to this article.
Until then, players should treat 2026 Early Access as the current official public window. Anyone waiting for the game can wishlist it on Steam, follow the official updates, or request playtest access directly from the Steam page.
