Main characters of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden in action

Banishers :Ghosts of New Eden Review-My Unexpected Journey

Posted on February 16, 2024January 16, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Some games slowly grow on you. Others just grab you from the start. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden did the latter. I started it without many expectations and ended up sinking 14 hours into it before I knew it. I even recorded my first three hours of gameplay, and honestly, I was hooked from the beginning. This is a story about my time with a game that completely caught me off guard—in the best way.

Choices That Actually Matter

What stood out early on was how the game reacts to the decisions you make. Every choice, every action has weight. I wasn’t just moving through someone else’s story—I was shaping it. The world responded to what I did, and that made the experience feel personal and alive. I found myself pausing, thinking hard before making decisions that could have lasting consequences.

Combat That Makes You Think

The combat took me by surprise. It’s not just about swinging a weapon or spamming attacks. You have to be smart. Positioning, timing, and switching between characters all play a role. There are five difficulty levels, too—so whether you’re here for the story or want a real challenge, it lets you choose your pace. I bumped it up after a while just to stretch the experience even further.

Visuals and Voice Acting That Build Atmosphere

The voice acting is top-notch, especially the Scottish actors who really give the characters personality and weight. The world feels lived-in and eerie at the same time. Visually, it’s stunning. On my setup—with an AMD 7800X3D, RX 7900XTX, and my 49-inch curved screen—it ran beautifully. But there’s one big issue: ultrawide support is lacking. That’s a real miss, considering how cinematic the game looks otherwise.

Why You Should Try Banishers

This isn’t just another action RPG. It’s a story that makes you care, with mechanics that keep you engaged. If you enjoy meaningful choices, strong characters, and supernatural storytelling, Banishers is absolutely worth your time. My video gives a small preview, but the real magic happens when you play it for yourself.
