Key art for Deathless: Tales of Old Rus featuring two main heroes

Deathless: Tales of Old Rus – A Card Game with Roguelike and Strategy

Posted on December 12, 2024May 2, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Deathless: Tales of Old Rus invites players into a richly imagined realm where the ancient Slavic-inspired land of Belosvet is under threat. This upcoming title by 1C Game Studios cleverly fuses collectible card gameplay with roguelike progression and turn-based tactical battles. The result is a strategic experience steeped in mythology, mystery, and magic.

Meet the Heroes of Belosvet

At launch, players can choose from four unique heroes, each offering distinct deck archetypes and combat styles. Whether you prefer brute force, calculated control, or risk-reward tactics, there’s a character to match your strategic preference. Completing their storylines also unlocks deeper lore and insights into Belosvet’s troubled past.

Gameplay Features and Strategic Depth

Each run in Deathless offers fresh challenges and endless strategic permutations. With hundreds of cards and relics to discover, players can tailor their decks and synergies on the fly. The branching map system ensures that every decision—from taking the safe road to risking high-level encounters—matters.

  • Turn-based battles with dynamic enemies
  • Deckbuilding with rogue-lite progression
  • Relics that stack and evolve your strategy
  • Quest-based progression with meaningful narrative choices

A Narrative Built from Slavic Folklore

The worldbuilding in Deathless stands out through its evocative Slavic-inspired mythology. From haunted swamps to spirit-infested ruins, each area is steeped in lore. You’re not just fighting to survive—you’re uncovering ancient truths, fulfilling prophecies, and possibly restoring peace to a land in turmoil.

Your Journey, Your Outcome

Every choice in Deathless branches into new possibilities. Encounter rewards, enemy types, and story outcomes all shift based on your chosen paths. This isn’t a one-and-done adventure—replayability is built into its core, making each run feel like a fresh legend being written.
