Bar chart comparing Capcom Q2 FY2025 unit sales: Monster Hunter Rise 254k vs Monster Hunter Wilds 160k

Monster Hunter Wilds Sales Slow; Monster Hunter Rise Outsells It in Capcom’s Q2

Posted on November 8, 2025November 8, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Capcom’s Q2 shows a steep slowdown for Monster Hunter Wilds — even Rise sold more last quarter

Capcom’s latest financial materials confirm that Monster Hunter Wilds added 160,000 units in the quarter ended September 30, 2025, while 2021’s Monster Hunter Rise moved 254,000 over the same period. For the first half of the fiscal year, Wilds sits at 637,000 units versus Rise at 643,000.

By the numbers

  • Release: February 28, 2025.
  • Launch performance: 10 million sold in the first month.
  • H1 FY2025 totals: Wilds 637k vs. Rise 643k (Capcom’s unit-sales ranking).
  • Q2 (Jul–Sep 2025): Wilds 160k vs. Rise 254k.
  • PC concurrency (Steam snapshot): all-time peak 1,384,608 (Mar 1, 2025) vs. recent 24-hour peak ~32,596 — down ~98% from peak.
  • PC user sentiment (Steam): Recent Reviews: Mostly Negative (36%).

What Capcom says

Capcom noted that Wilds sales in Q1 “fell short of our initial expectations” and said it is working across the company to address feedback, with free title updates planned through 2025.

Context

Wilds launched simultaneously on PC and consoles and briefly entered Steam’s all-time top-10 by concurrent players. Post-launch momentum on PC has cooled, while Capcom’s long-tail catalog strength (including Rise) continues to support overall software performance.
