Detective James Karra investigating in a cyberpunk cityscape, promotional artwork for Nobody Wants to Die

The official trailer for “Nobody Wants to Die” is a fun mash-up of detective and Cyberpunk themes.

Posted on March 15, 2024August 6, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

In a genre often saturated with predictable sci-fi narratives, Nobody Wants to Die stands out as a hauntingly stylish and thought-provoking take on the cyberpunk detective theme. Developed by Critical Hit Games, this upcoming title merges the investigative spirit of LA Noire with the philosophical complexity of Deus Ex—all wrapped in a neo-noir visual aesthetic reminiscent of Blade Runner.

Step Into the Mind of Detective James Karra

Set in the year 2329, players assume the role of Detective James Karra—a hardened investigator tasked with unraveling a string of serial murders in a future where the rich live forever, digitally. The case becomes more than just a pursuit of justice; it’s an exploration of what it means to be human when death is no longer a limit.

Time-Bending Gameplay and Ethical Quandaries

More than just a narrative experience, Nobody Wants to Die introduces innovative gameplay mechanics. You’ll reconstruct crime scenes, manipulate time, and use advanced forensics to piece together each mystery. Yet, at the core lies a chilling question: if immortality is bought, does life still hold meaning?

Visual Identity and Tone

From its debut trailer, it’s clear the game channels a heavy noir influence—rain-soaked cityscapes, dystopian skyscrapers, and moral decay all wrapped in photorealistic detail. Fans of narrative-driven experiences like Cyberpunk 2077 and Dishonored will find a familiar, yet intriguingly fresh world here.

Final Thoughts

Nobody Wants to Die isn’t just another entry into the cyberpunk space. It’s a bold, narrative-forward game asking players to investigate not only crimes, but existence itself. With its haunting visuals, immersive setting, and philosophical depth, this game is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated sci-fi detective titles of 2024.
