Red Dead Redemption rides onto mobile with Netflix Games on iOS and Android
Rockstar’s modern western classic Red Dead Redemption – plus the fan-favourite horror spin-off Undead Nightmare – is now officially playable on mobile for the first time. The game has arrived on iOS and Android through Netflix Games, letting subscribers play the full experience with no extra purchase, no ads, and no in-app purchases layered on top. Here at Fix Gaming Channel we usually live in the indie space, showcasing games like Outside the Blocks, but every now and then a big-name release lands that’s simply too important to ignore.
The mobile version brings over the complete single-player content of Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare, including the Game of the Year Edition extras. It’s the same story of John Marston being pushed by federal agents to hunt down the last members of the Van der Linde Gang, followed by a full alternate-timeline zombie outbreak across the frontier – only this time, you can take it with you on your phone or tablet.

On mobile, Red Dead Redemption uses a touch-friendly control scheme with on-screen movement, aiming, and interaction prompts tuned for smaller screens. If that’s not your style, the game also supports compatible Bluetooth controllers, effectively turning your phone or tablet into a mini console for longer sessions on the sofa or during travel.
There’s also a performance mode available on select devices, letting more powerful phones and tablets push higher frame rates than the traditional 30 FPS target. As always with demanding mobile releases, you’ll get the best experience on newer hardware with plenty of storage free and a healthy battery, but the core goal here is clear: deliver the console experience as intact as possible on a handheld screen.
To jump in, you just need an active Netflix subscription and a compatible device. From there you can either browse to the Games row inside the Netflix app or search for Red Dead Redemption directly on the App Store or Google Play. The listing will route you through Netflix for authentication, and once that’s done, you download the game like any other title in the service’s growing library.
Alongside the mobile launch, Rockstar has also rolled out enhanced versions of Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 with free digital upgrades for existing owners on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. So whether you want to replay John Marston’s journey on a 4K TV at 60 FPS or sneak in a few missions on your phone before bed, 2025 is suddenly one of the best times to return to the American frontier.
