Serum Playtest Announced a New Survival Adventure Awaits Players Wanted

Posted on April 13, 2024May 2, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

A Closer Look at the Upcoming SERUM Playtest and What It Means for Players

Following its standout performance at Steam Next Fest, SERUM, the first-person survival adventure game developed by Game Island and published by Toplitz Productions, is gearing up for an exclusive playtest. Announced by the enthusiastic team, this upcoming event promises to deepen the immersive experience in the eerie, post-apocalyptic world of SERUM. As someone who has reviewed the game and spoken directly with the developers, I’m here to give you an insider’s peek into what this playtest has in store.

Playtest Details

The playtest is set to commence on April 24th at 1 pm CEST and will run for one full week. Available exclusively via Steam, this testing phase invites players to explore expansive new biomes, from dense forests to murky swamps, with no restrictions on playtime.

Game Features

Building on its successful demo, SERUM introduces enhanced crafting capabilities, an arsenal of new weapons, and unique abilities that promise to elevate the survival tactics needed to navigate its world.

Challenges and Environment

Prepare to face off against the Infected — creatures mutated by the Serum into dangerous predators. From ferocious wolves to cunning boars, these foes are not the only dangers lurking in the shadows.

Integration of Previous Insights

In my previous review of SERUM, I delved into the game’s compelling survival mechanics and the rich, post-apocalyptic narrative that sets it apart from other titles in the genre. Additionally, in an exclusive interview with the developers at Game Island, we uncovered the inspirations behind the game’s haunting setting and innovative gameplay features. These insights offer a deeper understanding of what new and returning players can expect from the upcoming playtest.
