Shochiku Ventures Launches Game Accelerator 2025 to Empower Startups

Posted on March 13, 2025September 23, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Shochiku Game Accelerator 2025: Fueling the Future of Gaming

Shochiku Ventures, the investment arm of the legendary Shochiku Group, has announced the Shochiku Game Accelerator 2025. This new initiative offers up to $100,000 in non-equity funding to promising game-related startups and technology companies. The program isn’t just about money—it’s about mentorship, partnerships, and helping developers break into the Japanese market or expand globally.

Building on Success

Shochiku has a rich legacy in entertainment, and gaming is its next frontier. With titles like MiSide—which boasts more than 80,000 “overwhelmingly positive” reviews on Steam—Shochiku proved it has the chops to publish successful indie titles. The accelerator takes things further by giving startups the chance to develop Proof of Concept (PoC) projects using existing Shochiku IP, creating a rare opportunity for small teams to test big ideas on a proven platform.

More Than Just Funding

Selected participants won’t just receive financial support. They’ll also gain access to a network of top venture capital firms, publishers, and potential partners in Tokyo. Shochiku aims to strengthen the gaming ecosystem not only through games but also by supporting middleware, SaaS, and infrastructure—the backbone technologies that power modern gaming.

Shochiku’s Commitment

Takahiro Inoue, Managing Director at Shochiku Co., Ltd., explains the company’s vision: “Shochiku’s gaming business has seen rapid evolution since its inception last year, focusing significantly on indie game publishing. With the Shochiku Game Accelerator, we are excited to open our doors wider to companies that are shaping the future of gaming.”

It’s clear that Shochiku sees this program as more than an investment—it’s a step toward shaping the future of gaming itself.

How to Apply

Applications are open until May 19, 2025. Interested companies should prepare their decks, builds, or demos and head over to Shochiku Ventures’ official website for full eligibility details and the application form.

Final Thoughts
