Aunty Val presenting a bowl of food above the Gobble Inn logo

Trash Goblin’s Creators Are Making a Roguelike Without Failure

Posted on October 9, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Aunty Val heads underground, with a demo planned for October 29

Spilt Milk Studios, the team behind Trash Goblin, has announced Gobble Inn, a cozy mining-and-cooking roguelike with an unusual promise: no fail states. The Steam page describes a nonviolent adventure built around gathering ingredients and keeping a fantasy inn supplied with food.

If you have been following our Tavern Keeper coverage, here is another innkeeping game with reasons to head underground. This time, Trash Goblin’s Aunty Val takes the lead.

Dig for dinner, then try a different build

The setup sends Aunty Val into the shifting Chasm to break blocks, gather ingredients, and uncover trinkets. Back at the inn, those ingredients become experiments with new recipes. Eating dishes powers up your next outing, giving you different builds to try.

The studio describes it as a relaxing roguelike, with food and experimentation shaping the repeated trips underground. For another approach to fantasy hospitality, our Tavern Manager Simulator coverage looks at cooking and running the business.

Demo and crowdfunding arrive together

In its announcement, Spilt Milk Studios says the Gobble Inn Kickstarter campaign and Steam demo are both planned for October 29, 2026. The Kickstarter preview page is available now, but pledges have not opened.

The developer credits the Trash Goblin community’s support with making this next project possible. It also says work on Trash Goblin will continue across all platforms, with more news to follow.

Gobble Inn can already be wishlisted on Steam. Its full release date is still to be announced, so October 29 is the demo and crowdfunding milestone, not the game’s launch.
