The dark fantasy FPS from The Astronauts receives a new area, revamped mechanics, and its most requested onboarding feature

WARSAW, Poland (July 28, 2025) – The Astronauts, developers of the acclaimed indie title The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, have released the Webgrave Update for their dark fantasy shooter Witchfire. The update is now available on Steam and Epic Games Store, expanding the game’s Early Access content with a new region, upgraded systems, new abilities, and long-requested quality-of-life improvements. To mark the update, Witchfire is currently discounted by 20% on both platforms.

The update introduces Velmorne, a new multi-layered region once known as a peaceful town—until its citizens were twisted by witchcraft. Now they prowl abandoned squares and alleys, ambushing intruders in the shadows. This new region adds depth to the game’s atmospheric world and presents new challenges for Preyers venturing into its haunted streets.

About Witchfire

Developed by key creatives behind Painkiller and Bulletstorm, Witchfire blends elements of dark fantasy, soulslike combat, roguelite structure, and extraction-style expeditions. Players take on the role of a sinner-turned-Preyer, tasked with hunting the Witch of the Black Sea across cursed biomes.
