Xbox Mythic Achievements Are Rolling Out to Insiders

Xbox has started rolling out Mythic Achievements, a new completion marker for players who finish every achievement included with a game’s original release.

The feature is available first to Xbox Insiders and was announced by Microsoft on September 29. According to Xbox Wire, Mythic status is also being applied retroactively to eligible games players have already completed.

That includes Xbox 360 games, meaning longtime achievement hunters may already have Mythic completions waiting when the feature reaches their account. It is another change to the Xbox platform following the wider service updates we recently covered in our Xbox Game Pass vs PlayStation Plus comparison.

DLC Achievements Do Not Count Toward Mythic

Players only need to complete the achievements that shipped with the original game. Achievements added later through DLC or updates are not required.

Once Mythic status has been earned, it stays unlocked even if more achievements are added later.

Not Available to Everyone Yet

Mythic Achievements are currently limited to the Xbox Insider rollout. Microsoft has not announced a general release date for all Xbox players.

The retroactive support is the standout part of the update, especially for players who completed games during the Xbox 360 era and do not want to repeat old achievement lists just to receive the new completion marker.
