Company of Heroes 3

Release Date: February 23, 2023

Genre: Real-Time Strategy, Tactical

Developer/Publisher: Relic Entertainment / SEGA

Genre: Strategy, World War II

Platforms: Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S

The Campaign: Heart and Soul of the Game

One of the biggest strengths of the game is its campaign. It’s rich, well-paced, and keeps you engaged from start to finish. Unlike many modern titles that rely on repetitive missions or filler content, this game ensures every hour feels meaningful. The variety of objectives, side quests, and branching narratives make it a journey worth taking.

AI Flaws Hold It Back Slightly

However, no game is perfect, and this one does have its flaws—primarily with the AI. While the world and mechanics are well-designed, enemy behavior can sometimes feel lackluster. There are moments where enemies seem to lose track of the player entirely and fail to react appropriately. At times, their actions feel too predictable or unchallenging, especially with the way they charge into battle and use the same cover as your squads, which can take away from the immersion and intensity of combat encounters.

Multiplayer and Skirmishes

Beyond the campaign, the game offers a strong multiplayer and skirmish mode that supports various playstyles. Whether you prefer defensive build-ups or aggressive tactics, there’s a lot to explore. It’s clear the devs wanted this anniversary update to refresh the experience for both veterans and newcomers.

Final Verdict

Despite these issues, the game remains a must-play for fans of the genre. The sheer depth of content, compelling narrative, and overall polish make it a fantastic experience. If the AI were a bit more refined, this could have been a near-perfect title. Even so, it’s still an adventure well worth your time.

Score: 8/10

A fantastic game with an unforgettable campaign, but a bit of AI fine-tuning would make it even better.
