Crytek Announces Workforce Reduction and Strategic Shift in Public Statement

Posted on February 13, 2025June 26, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

In a public statement released today, Crytek has announced a significant reduction of its workforce by approximately 15%, affecting around 400 employees, amidst ongoing market challenges.

Immediate Changes:

Crytek detailed in their statement the painful but necessary decision to lay off a portion of their team due to the unfavorable market dynamics that have impacted the gaming industry over recent years. The reduction spans across several departments, notably affecting both development teams and shared services.

Strategic Reorganization:

The company also revealed that the development of the next installment in the Crysis series has been put on hold. In contrast, resources are being redirected to support the growing demands of their project, Hunt: Showdown 1896. Crytek emphasized the need for this realignment to ensure financial sustainability and continued innovation.

Support for Affected Employees:

Crytek expressed its deep appreciation for the hard work of its talented teams and confirmed that it would provide severance packages and career assistance services to all affected employees to aid in their professional transition.

Future Commitments:

Despite the layoffs, Crytek remains optimistic about its future projects and technology development. The company is fully committed to expanding and evolving Hunt: Showdown 1896 and further developing its CRYENGINE technology, aiming to uphold its reputation for quality and innovation in the gaming industry.

Crytek’s leadership has expressed firm belief in the company’s strategy and future, stating that these difficult decisions are steps towards strengthening their market position and continuing to deliver exceptional gaming experiences.
