First Dwarf game artwork – dwarves explore floating islands with mechs and dragons in a survival RPG adventure.

Gear Up for Exploration First Dwarf Arrives With Mechs and Mysteries This Summer

First Dwarf: Mechs, Mysteries, and Survival This Summer

Fantasy action RPGs are no stranger to ambitious worlds, but First Dwarf takes it a step further—floating islands, mechanical suits, and dwarves fighting for survival. Developed by Star Drifters and published by 4Divinity, this upcoming title is equal parts base-builder, survival sim, and narrative-driven RPG. It’s shaping up to be one of the most intriguing releases of the summer.

A World Torn Apart

Set on the remnants of Planet Driftland, First Dwarf drops players into a shattered realm of floating islands. Magical wars have left civilization in ruins, resources are dwindling, and the dwarf race faces extinction. Players step into the boots of Tru—the First Dwarf—a mech-operating engineer sent on a desperate mission to explore, build, and secure hope for his people.

It’s a setting that feels both epic and intimate. One moment you’re piloting a towering mech, the next you’re grappling with the very survival of your clan. That tension is what makes First Dwarf stand out in a crowded genre.

Gameplay Highlights

  • Mechanical Exploration: Pilot an upgradeable mana-powered mech suit to traverse challenging terrains and uncover new islands.
  • Strategic Base-Building: Construct shelters, defenses, and resource hubs to establish thriving dwarf colonies.
  • Dynamic Combat: Defend your people from barbarian tribes, fierce wildlife, and natural disasters.
  • Deep Narrative: Unravel secrets of Tru’s family and uncover lore that may change the fate of the dwarf clans.
  • Dual Protagonists: Switch between Tru and Ragna the Dragon for fresh perspectives and unique gameplay moments.

A Story with Heart

What makes First Dwarf more than just another survival-builder is its emotional core. The journey isn’t only about gathering resources and fending off danger—it’s also about Tru’s search for answers to his father’s past. Those personal stakes give weight to every discovery, making the adventure feel richer and more meaningful.

As someone who’s spent hours in games like Valheim and Factorio, I can’t help but see First Dwarf as the perfect blend: survival challenge with story-driven purpose.
