Gah!

Release Date: September 4, 2024

Genre: Hack and Slash, Roguelite

Developer/Publisher: Jasio Games

Platforms: Steam (PC)

Gameplay Overview

Players begin by selecting one of three starting characters—the King, the Sorcerer, or the Rogue. Each run spans about an hour, making Gah! ideal for gamers looking for quick, action-filled sessions. As you progress, you’ll unlock new heroes, take on powerful bosses, and explore procedurally generated levels.

A Shifting World of Weapons and Challenges

Starting in a traditional dungeon setting, the world of Gah! transforms as you move deeper. Environments from other realms begin to merge, offering new weapons and hazards. To survive, players must continuously adapt—and unlock new characters that wield these evolving tools of destruction.

Choose Your Path and Customize Your Skills

After each level, you’ll choose between two branching paths, each offering different rewards and optional challenges. Characters have four active skills, each with various upgrade choices. Further depth comes from three passive skill trees that let you shape your playstyle—whether you prefer brute force, strategic control, or survivability.

Game Modes and Replay Value

The core game mode, The Adventure, lets you unlock NPCs, upgrades, and more as you play. Once you’re ready, tackle The Nightmare—a harder mode with tougher enemies and better rewards. Additional modes can be unlocked over time, offering new gameplay twists and challenges.

Progress That Counts — Even in Defeat

Each run contributes to long-term progression. Collected resources are used to upgrade your home village, which unlocks new characters and abilities. Even failed runs provide valuable upgrades, reinforcing the “roguelite” design where progress is always possible.

Final Thoughts – Why You Should Keep an Eye on Gah!

If you’re looking for a game that blends intense combat, evolving strategy, and quick-play convenience, Gah! might just be your next favorite roguelite. With dynamic maps, rich customization, and a passionate solo developer behind it, this is one September release to keep on your radar.

About Jasio Games

Janek, the creator behind Jasio Games, has been passionate about game development for years. With Gah!, he marks his first official release on Steam. Working mostly solo—with some creative help from his wife on aesthetics and Blender modeling—Janek built the game using Unity and Synty assets. The project taught him everything from 3D design to legal and marketing struggles, and he’s already eager to apply these lessons to future, even more ambitious games.
