Shape of Dreams v1.1 adds mod support, Hardcore mode, and a hidden boss on Steam
Shape of Dreams is rolling out a major v1.1 update on Steam today, bringing full mod support, a new Hardcore Challenge mode, a hidden boss encounter, and broad balance tweaks aimed at making late-game runs more rewarding over the long haul. Developed by South Korean studio Lizard Smoothie and published by NEOWIZ, the fast-paced action roguelite leans into tight combat, MOBA-style teamplay, and up-to-four-player co-op in a space that will feel familiar if you’ve been following games like Overkill Squad.

After a strong debut in September, Lizard Smoothie describes v1.1 as a thank-you to players who have been sending feedback since launch. The team has already earned attention for how quickly it responds to balance concerns and progression pain points, and this update is pitched as a way to keep Shape of Dreams’ late-game loop from collapsing into a single “best” build.
Mod support and tougher late-game runs
The headline addition is official mod support. Shape of Dreams now exposes a dedicated Mods menu and Steam Workshop integration, letting players browse, install, and enable community-made tweaks directly in-game. For a build-driven roguelite that already leans on wild combinations of Travelers, Memories, and Essences, opening the door to community content is a big statement about the game’s long-term future.

Alongside that, v1.1 introduces a new Hardcore Challenge mode aimed squarely at players who already live in the game’s highest difficulties. It raises the stakes on each run with harsher penalties for mistakes, a stronger emphasis on survival across multiple stages, and more pressure on how you allocate upgrades during a run. A new hidden boss encounter also waits for those who push far enough into the endgame, designed as a late-run skill check for coordinated squads and high-level solo builds alike.
“As we reach the end of the year, we are publishing a huge update that takes player feedback and suggestions into consideration as a thank you for all the support we received at launch,” said Eunsop Shim, co-founder and CEO, Lizard Smoothie. “On top of the update, we have a festive seasonal event and a game discount coming later this month. We hope it brings a little more excitement to the holiday season.”
Update Celebration Sale and Steam Winter Sale timing
To go with the update, Shape of Dreams is running an Update Celebration Sale on Steam from Wednesday, December 10 to Wednesday, December 17, 2025, where new players can pick up the game at 30% off. If you’ve been waiting to see how the post-launch balance shakes out, this window lines up neatly with the v1.1 rollout and its new late-game options.
Once that promotion ends, the game will also be discounted during the Steam Winter Sale, running from Thursday, December 18, 2025 to Monday, January 5, 2026. That gives anyone who misses the first discount a second chance to jump in during the busy holiday window.
Awards, community, and where to play
Shape of Dreams’ rapid update cadence is coming off a strong awards season. In November, Lizard Smoothie picked up both the Best Developer Award and the Indie Game Award for Shape of Dreams at the 2025 Korea Game Awards, and the game is also nominated in the fan-voted 2025 Steam Awards in the “Better With Friends” category. For a project that started as a small university team, it’s a big signal that the studio’s co-op-first vision is landing with players.
If you want to see what the dream looks like now that v1.1 is live, you can find Shape of Dreams on Steam. The studio points players to its growing Discord community and official social channels on X, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube for update notes, seasonal events, and future balance passes.
