MR. RECORDS Demo Adds Music Level Editor for Steam Next Fest

Posted on October 19, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Build Your Own Rhythm Levels in the Updated MR. RECORDS Demo

A free Steam demo update adds custom music stages to a game about running a record shop and stepping into the music.

MR. RECORDS already mixes record-shop management with rhythm platforming. Now, during the October 19–26 Steam Next Fest, its free PC demo has another feature to try: a Music Level Editor that allows players to build and play their own stages.

We have highlighted unusual games in our earlier Steam demo recommendations, and this one has an especially interesting hook: you can create something of your own without waiting for the full game.

Create a Level, Then Play It

Developer Glee-Cheese Studio and publisher Wired Productions announced the editor on October 15. The updated demo lets players place notes, obstacles, and effects along a musical timeline, then immediately test what they have built. Colors, backgrounds, assets, and animations can also be customized to fit the beat.

On PC, players can import their own music and share custom creations with others. According to the official announcement, the Level Editor itself is planned for every version of the full game, although personal music importing and level sharing have specifically been described as PC features.

A Record Store With a Musical World Behind Every Album

The adventure follows George, an older man who finally opens the record shop he has always dreamed of running. Alongside his dog Buzz, he meets customers, learns their musical tastes, recommends albums, and expands his collection. Each vinyl also leads into a playable world of music and memories, with running, jumping, and sliding timed to the soundtrack.

The demo introduces the beginning of George’s story, while the editor offers a separate way to experiment with the game’s rhythm mechanics. The full game is planned to include more than 40 handcrafted levels, according to the developer and publisher.

Play the Free Demo on Steam

The free MR. RECORDS demo is available on Steam. You can also wishlist the full game. A release date for the finished game has not yet been announced.

Fix Gaming Channel has a meeting booked with the developers behind MR. RECORDS at gamescom asia. We’re looking forward to speaking with the team, learning more about the game, and sharing what we find out with our readers.

Another October Next Fest demo we recently reported on is Evil Moon: Unspoken.
