Automation, strategy, and survival in space — why Space Drilling Station is our Game of the Week #18

Space Drilling Station is one of those indies that makes sense the moment you feel the loop. You’re thinking vertically, automating smart, and actually caring about the crew that keeps the whole thing running. Best part? You can play it free right now. The Steam demo lets everyone jump in without spending a cent—real hands-on time, not guesswork.

Space Drilling Station

Release: Planned Q3 2025 (PC)

Genre: Simulation, Strategy, Automation, Early Access

Developer/Publisher: Ayota Games / Abiding Bridge

Platforms: PC (Steam)

Why It’s Our Game of the Week #18

You can play it right now. The demo is free and shows the core: a ten-floor facility where space actually matters, a staff you need to keep healthy, and production lines that click when you plan ahead. Yes, it’s a demo, so there are limits—but the devs are actively optimizing and adding. On potential alone, this feels like one of the more promising indie sims lining up for 2025.

  • Free to try: Wishlist, follow, and grab the demo on Steam.
  • Fresh design: Vertical layout turns space into a strategic resource.
  • Active development: Frequent improvements point to a solid Early Access path.

About the numbering: there are 52 weeks in a year. We’re counting from when the new site launched—that’s why this is Week 18.

About This Game

OERS sets the quotas; you build the answer. On a hostile world, your job is to extract and export Draxen—a resource Earth needs. With only ten floors to work with, every decision matters: where your crew lives, how goods flow, what gets automated, and how fast you can ship. The pressure is constant, but so is the satisfaction when the whole machine hums.

Key Features

  • Vertical base-building: Ten floors, tight space—layout and flow matter.
  • People management: Roles, shifts, health, morale—ignore them and performance drops.
  • Automation that scales: Build production lines that evolve with better tech and materials.
  • Compete or cooperate: Share resources with other stations—or outpace them to hit quota.
  • Try before launch: Free demo now; full PC release planned for Q3 2025.
