Spokane, United States, May 14th, 2024 – A new era begins for one of the most revered puzzle-adventure games of all time. Cyan Worlds has officially announced that Riven, the sequel to Myst, is launching into virtual reality for the very first time. This updated version will be available on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, Windows (VR and flatscreen), and Mac.

A Landmark Update Since 1997

Originally released in 1997, Riven is being rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 for modern platforms and VR. This is a full remake rather than a simple port, with the environments and interactions recreated for free movement and VR play.

The VR version lets players move through and interact with Riven’s environments directly, with the Meta Quest 3 offering higher-resolution standalone play. The remake adapts the original puzzles and spaces for that more hands-on format.

Riven continues the narrative of the Myst universe, placing players in a crumbling world ruled by a tyrant and teetering on collapse.
