Carbon passes 40,000 Steam wishlists as its cyberpunk ARPG demo gains traction

Posted on February 6, 2026February 7, 2026 By Aidan Minter

A wishlist milestone — and a playable demo to back it up

Carbon, a cyberpunk/biopunk-flavoured action RPG from Hardwired Studios, has just crossed 40,000 wishlists on Steam — a strong early signal for a project that’s still building toward launch. We’ve seen how wishlist momentum can translate into real visibility for indies (for example, Hypercharge hitting 80,000 wishlists), and Carbon is clearly finding its audience.

The best part: you don’t have to guess what it feels like from screenshots alone. Carbon already has a free demo on Steam, and if cyberpunk worlds are your thing, we’ve also been tracking other upcoming releases in the space — including REPLACED’s release date news.

What Carbon is going for

At its core, Carbon is a top-down sci-fi action RPG set on a ruined Earth — with humanity pushed into orbital city-settlements and corporate power filling the vacuum. The game’s hook leans hard into augmentation culture: your character’s strength is built through tech, bio, and the systems around them, not just loot drops and raw stats.

Tech vs Bio builds — plus co-op

Steam’s description frames the build identity as a major choice: Tech vs Bio augmentation, backed by deep progression (including “18” specializations and a large skill system). Carbon also supports online co-op, with Steam noting you can team up with up to four other players for cooperative runs.

Release timing

Carbon’s Steam page currently lists its planned release date as “To be announced”, so the demo is the main way to get a real read on combat feel, pacing, and build direction right now. If it clicks with you, wishlisting helps keep the project visible while the team pushes toward a final launch window.
