The Comeback Story Behind ‘Different Kind of Game’

The Comeback Story Behind ‘Different Kind of Game’ In the world of video games, where visuals and gameplay often take center stage, the power of a compelling soundtrack is sometimes overlooked. Yet, it’s the music that often captures the heart of the experience, creating lasting memories that resonate with players long after the game is over. One such memorable track is “Different Kind of Game” by myself and my band Go Postal, featured in “Crash Test Idiots 2.” Behind this song lies not just a story of musical creativity but a profound journey of personal and artistic resurgence.

A decade ago, I found myself disillusioned with the music industry. The challenges and setbacks were so overwhelming that I made the difficult decision to step away from music entirely. For ten years, my guitar collected dust, and my pen lay idle. The melodies that once fueled my soul were silenced, marking a period of profound personal silence.

This silence was unexpectedly broken by Archor Wright, the developer behind “Crash Test Idiots 2.” His decision to include “Different Kind of Game” And the Album Golden Rats in his game’s Official Soundtrack was more than an opportunity for exposure; it was a lifeline thrown into the depths of my creative abyss.

In this moment of revival, I am reminded of the collective effort that brought “Different Kind of Game” and the album Golden Rats to life. From my bandmates in Go Postal—myself, Fix, also known as Ronny Fiksdahl, Wee Thawee, Jon Egil Ramslie, Stephan Audiger, and Pdum—to our collaborator Kjell-Arne Ramslie, each played an invaluable role in crafting the songs.

The story behind “Different Kind of Game” is more than a tale of a song’s creation; it’s a narrative of personal resilience, communal support, and the redemptive power of art. As I stand at the threshold of this new chapter, I am grateful for the unexpected journey that led me here and hopeful for what the future holds. To Archor Wright, my bandmates, and everyone who has supported me through the highs and lows—thank you. Your belief in me and my music has been the greatest gift of all.
