CI Games’ action RPG hits milestone sales as Steam discount and Gamescom sequel reveal keep momentum alive

CI Games CEO Marek Tymiński has confirmed that Lords of the Fallen (2023) has now sold over 2 million copies across platforms—roughly two years after its launch. The milestone comes as the game gains renewed visibility through a major Steam discount and builds anticipation for the sequel’s reveal at Gamescom.

On PC, the game is currently 40% off on Steam with ~17,000 “Mostly Positive” all-time user reviews.

By the numbers

Earlier this summer, CI Games highlighted 5.5M+ players since launch—a broader metric that includes subscriptions/trials and isn’t the same as copies sold.

What’s next

Lords of the Fallen 2 is slated for a full reveal at Gamescom, which should help reignite interest around the franchise’s future.

Context

Despite strong engagement, recent reporting noted the 2023 reboot was still near break-even due to its sizeable budget—an example of how mid-sized AA/AAA projects can struggle without sustained content beats. For a deeper look at how ambitious productions can both inspire and strain developers, see our feature on Into the Fire.
