New on Steam: ‘Scenes from the Heart – Part 1’ is a character-first Visual Novel about friendship, improv, and making a VN

Finnish solo developer Zamius has released Scenes from the Heart – Part 1 on Steam. It’s a grounded, two-ending Visual Novel that focuses on connection, creativity, and the small frictions of building something together — framed through improv theater and a student VN project. This first part acts as a prologue, setting up the cast and the road ahead.

Scenes from the Heart – Part 1

Release: October 24, 2025

Genre: Visual Novel

Developer / Publisher: Zamius

Platforms: PC — Steam

What it’s about

Scenes from the Heart follows a mature but isolated MC who struggles to connect due to a superiority complex. Befriending Chisaki Namichi — once bullied for her unique eye color — and transfer student Konaka Motomi, the trio leans into improv theater and begins building a visual novel together. Conflicts flare, a demo wins an award, and a shadow on the horizon hints that Part 2 will push into tougher territory.

Features

  • ~2 hours; two endings; full English voiceover
  • Steam achievements + in-game gallery
  • UI/dialogue languages at launch include English, Finnish, and Japanese
  • Title screen background changes at certain progress points
  • Two Easter eggs tucked into background art

Raw Gameplay (PC)

Gameplay capture by Fix Gaming Channel.

I had the great pleasure of talking with the developer before launch and testing the game. Small personal surprise: he’s from Finland — close to my motherland, Norway — so I caught a familiar Scandinavian lilt in a couple of side-character voices. Not a negative; the delivery is clear and easy to understand. It’s a minor detail, but worth noting.

From the Developer

“As the solo indie dev, I can proudly announce and state that I have officially FINISHED my game!! ┻━┻ ︵ヽ(`Д´)ノ︵ ┻━┻”

Mini Q&A

How long have you been working on Scenes from the Heart – Part 1?

The whole project has lasted 1 year and 9 months in total to finish.

Expected playtime for Part 1 on a first run, and roughly for 100%/gallery?

1,5 hours, extra 5 minutes for 100% since it has only 2 endings

Timeline for Part 2 — and is a Part 3 on the roadmap?

Part 2 will be TBA later in the future when I have gathered the necessary funds for it. Until then, I will focus on my other projects like my first co-dev Pokémon fan game project with the goal of making the game FULLY VOICE ACTED. We will do what Nintendon’t! >:D It might, thus, be even the very first Pokemon game existing that would have full voice acting in it.

Where to play & pricing

Available now on PC via Steam. List price: USD $7.99.
