Lawn Mowing Simulator 2 funding now at risk after late Kickstarter setback
Update: After this article was first published, Skyhook Games shared that a high-tier pledge had fallen away, pushing Lawn Mowing Simulator 2 back below full funding in the campaign’s final hours. This article has been updated to reflect that change.
What had looked like a comfortable run to the finish line for Lawn Mowing Simulator 2 has now turned into a last-minute fight to get over the line. Skyhook Games has shared that the campaign was pushed back below full funding after a major pledge disappeared late, changing the tone of the story completely. If you have followed crowdfunding coverage on Fix Gaming Channel before, you may also remember our earlier piece on ASTROBOTANICA hitting its Kickstarter goal in under a week.
According to the studio, this was not the first suspicious high-level pledge tied to the campaign. Skyhook Games said an earlier top-tier pledge had already raised concerns and was removed, while another large pledge later fell away as well, leaving the sequel back under its target in the closing stretch. That means this is no longer simply a story about momentum, but about whether genuine backers can still carry the project through. If crowdfunding twists and long-running community support are your thing, you can also check out our feature on Star Citizen nearing the billion-dollar mark.
To the studio’s credit, Skyhook chose to be direct about what happened instead of pretending everything was fine. The team framed the setback as one of the awkward realities of modern crowdfunding and thanked the genuine supporters who have backed the project properly, while also asking people to help spread the word during the last part of the campaign.
That setback lands late for a sequel that still has a clear pitch. Lawn Mowing Simulator 2 is set in brand-new US locations and expands on the original game with new grass tech, new equipment, leaf blowers, string trimmers, and an overhauled career mode built around a fully explorable HQ. In other words, there is still a real game here with a stronger follow-up pitch than the original “just more of the same” route.

That is what gives the final hours a sharper edge now. A campaign that had seemed safely on course suddenly has to rely on real support rather than a distorted headline number. For Skyhook Games, the bigger challenge now is not just reaching the target again, but doing it in a way that restores confidence around the campaign’s closing push.
Whether Lawn Mowing Simulator 2 gets there or not, the studio’s public explanation has at least made one thing clearer: the final result should reflect genuine backing, not inflated momentum from suspicious top-tier activity. That makes this latest twist more than a routine Kickstarter wobble. It is now a test of whether the real community around the sequel is enough to get it across the line.
