Posted on May 8, 2024May 2, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

A First-Person Survival Experience Like No Other

Developer Game Island and publisher Toplitz Productions are pleased to announce that their exciting first-person survival adventure game, SERUM, will launch on PC via Steam Early Access on May 23rd. SERUM promises an intense, heart-pounding adventure that uncovers a spine-tingling conspiracy amidst a mutagen pandemic in a world left in ruin. Players must harness their determination and will to survive to navigate the environment, find sources of serum, and craft the means to endure.

I’m excited to share the latest on SERUM, a first-person survival adventure game developed by Game Island and published by Toplitz Productions. Having tested the early demo, participated in the playtest, and closely followed both teams, I’ve become a genuine fan of what they’re creating. Now, with the Early Access launch just around the corner, I can’t wait to see what’s in store!

Wishlist SERUM on Steam and play the demo today!

SERUM

Release Date: May 23, 2024 (Early Access)

Genre: First-Person, Survival, Action

Developer: Game Island S.A.

Publisher: Toplitz Productions

Platforms: PC (Steam)

The Premise

Dive into a thrilling survival adventure where an unknown liquid takes control of your life. Extract Serum to stay alive, battle dangerous creatures, solve puzzles, and uncover clues about past events. Find your way out alone or in a 4-player co-op mode.

Story

Imagine waking up in a world overrun by a mysterious toxic substance with a strange device attached to your arm. Will you gather the courage to explore and survive, or simply wait for your demise? One thing is clear: you need Serum to prolong your life. How you find it is up to you.

Find shelter, search for new technology, craft your equipment and modify weapons to protect yourself, and try to reach places where this precious substance is waiting to be gathered. But be warned: Serum can alter your body in unexpected ways.

Remember: Life is in your hands.

Key Features

  • Use Serum to enhance your abilities—but beware of the side effects
  • Explore a semi-open world with diverse biomes
  • Engage in resource management and time-sensitive gameplay
  • Customize weapons and craft essential survival gear
  • Play solo or with friends in 4-player cooperative mode

Gameplay Insights

Survivors will need to carefully manage their resources while keeping an eye on the passage of time as it continually ebbs away. The toxic mist blanketing parts of the landscape is a chilling reminder of the catastrophic impact on the environment. Survival isn’t guaranteed unless players can harness resources and cultivate an existence in this fragile but lethal world.

Public Playtest Success

Developer Game Island and publisher Toplitz Productions recently conducted SERUM’s public playtest as they finalized the Early Access PC build. This follows its standout performance at February’s Steam Next Fest, where it ranked among the top 50 most-played demos and placed 17th in the most-followed category.
