Darktide characters pose with weapons in Warhammer 40K art

Warhammer 40000 Secrets of the Machine God Patch Notes

Posted on June 26, 2024January 16, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

A frozen new mission, fresh weapons, and a limited-time event for Darktide

June 25, 2024 — Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has rolled out the Secrets of the Machine God update on Steam, with other platforms to follow shortly. The headline additions are a brand-new mission set in a frozen Foundryplex, a weapon-focused in-game event, and new gear for multiple classes.

If you’ve been keeping up with Darktide on Fix Gaming Channel, this update lands after Path of Redemption and continues Fatshark’s push for more replayable mission content and better moment-to-moment combat clarity.

For the full (very long) official notes, Fatshark split the update into two posts: Part 1 and Part 2.

New Mission: Clandestium Gloriana

Clandestium Gloriana (previously mentioned as Atelium Foundryplex Omega V) sends strike teams deeper into Tertium to reawaken a long-dormant Adeptus Mechanicus Foundryplex — one of the lost Machinaria Gloriana.

  • New frozen environment that changes the tone and visibility of the mission.
  • A mission-giver present during gameplay, adding more “in-mission” context than usual.
  • Variable end events aimed at improving replayability.

New In-Game Event: Test Your Metal (June 27 – July 11)

To spotlight the new arsenal, Test Your Metal asks squads to use specific weapons to take down Elite and Specialist enemies. Qualifying kills from all party members count, so it’s built for normal play rather than strict solo grinds.

  • Use these weapons: Bolt Pistol, Double-Barrelled Shotgun, Shock Maul, or Pickaxe.
  • Rewards include: Ordo Dockets, Plasteel, and Diamantine.

New Weapons Added

Alongside the event, the update adds multiple new weapon types — including a major first for Ogryn players.

  • Pickaxes (Ogryn): Ogryns’ first two-handed weapon class, with Heavy / Medium / Light marks.
  • Shock Mauls (Veteran / Zealot / Psyker): Stun-focused melee with a shock status and a “cattle prod” style special.
  • Double-Barrelled Shotgun (Veteran / Zealot / Psyker): Close-range burst damage with a bracing stance to fire both barrels.
  • Bolt Pistol (Veteran / Zealot / Psyker): Mobile sidearm with faster handling than the Boltgun, but harder to control.

Features, QoL Improvements, and Weapon Changes

Beyond new content, Fatshark also shipped a large batch of improvements and balancing — including interface readability updates (like crosshairs and hit markers), mission tweaks based on community feedback, and a long list of weapon adjustments and bug fixes.

If you want the full breakdown (it’s extensive), go straight to the official notes: Part 1 and Part 2.
