Blade Chimera Cyberpunk Metroidvania Hits Steam and Switch on Jan 16 2025

Posted on December 12, 2024June 25, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Team Ladybug, known for their standout indie hits Touhou Luna Nights and Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, returns with a bold new metroidvania—Blade Chimera. Releasing January 16, 2025, for both Steam and Nintendo Switch, this cyberpunk-infused adventure blends stylish pixel art, challenging gameplay, and a mysterious narrative into one gripping package.

A World Reforged After War

The saga of Blade Chimera unfolds decades after the devastating “Demon War”—a battle where humankind barely survived against otherworldly horrors. In the aftermath, a group known as the Holy Union rises to restore order, using their divine techniques to hold back the remaining demonic threat. It is in this fragmented world that the story of Shin begins.

Play as Shin and Wield Lux, the Living Blade

Players assume the role of Shin, a demon hunter suffering from amnesia. Guided by a sentient sword named Lux—a demonic entity who can manipulate time—Shin sets off to uncover the truth of his forgotten past. This bond between man and demon becomes the core of both combat and story, unlocking unique gameplay mechanics that let players reverse, freeze, and alter time during battles and exploration.

Features to Look Forward To

  • Fluid 2D combat with time-shifting mechanics
  • Pixel-perfect animations and cyberpunk-inspired visuals
  • Challenging bosses, puzzles, and traversal sequences
  • Deep lore tied into a rich dystopian narrative
  • Multi-platform launch on Steam and Switch
