Cairn key art showing Aava standing on a rocky ledge, looking up at the glowing summit of Mount Kami

Cairn launching January 29, 2026

Cairn locks in a January 29, 2026 launch as Aava’s brutal ascent up Mount Kami comes to PC and PS5

Cairn, the survival-climber from The Game Bakers (Furi, Haven), now has a firm release date. The studio has confirmed that Aava’s high-altitude push up Mount Kami begins on January 29, 2026 on PC via Steam and PlayStation 5, with a launch discount and a Deluxe Edition planned for day one.

You play as professional climber Aava, trying to become the first person to summit the deadly Mount Kami. Earlier this year we featured the demo as our Game of the Week #23, where its precision climbing and tight routes already stood out. Instead of “hold trigger to climb”, Cairn is all about manual, limb-based movement and reading the rock wall – planning your route, placing gear, and managing stamina as every reach, foothold, and mistake can end the attempt. Between pushes you set up camp, manage supplies, and decide how hard to gamble on the next pitch.

A survival-climber with momentum behind it

Alongside the main story climb, Cairn also offers an Expedition mode with different objectives and rulesets, from more grounded alpine ascents to ultra-risky free solo attempts. A long-running demo campaign has already put the game in front of a huge audience, and The Game Bakers now say Cairn has passed 700,000 wishlists across platforms – strong signs that this mountain is going to be busy at launch.

If you want a taste before release, there’s a free demo on Steam that showcases the technical climbing and the pressure of committing to a line high above the ground. We’ll be watching Cairn closely as it approaches launch – and we’ll be back with full impressions once we’ve had the chance to tackle Mount Kami ourselves.
