Whimside launches on Steam during the Wholesome Games Celebration

A cozy “desktop pets meets creature breeding” idle game

Indie studio Toadzillart and publisher Future Friends Games have released Whimside on PC via Steam as part of the Wholesome Games Steam Celebration (August 7). The game sits at the bottom of your screen, so you can capture rare creatures, create new species, and decorate your space while you work or study.

What it is

Whimside is a relaxing desktop companion. Capture and hybridize “Whimlings,” unlock new biomes, and decorate a tiny garden that keeps you company while you’re busy elsewhere.

Toadzillart and Tadpoly are the game-dev couple behind Whimside, based in France, where they live with their two cats, Oscar and Tigri. They’ve been building this debut title since 2024 and describe it as a labor of love.
