Scam Warning: Fake Solarpunk Playtest Invites Targeting Steam Users

Posted on June 25, 2025June 25, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Discord messages promoting early access to Solarpunk are part of a phishing scam — here’s what you need to know.

Solarpunk (Scam Alert)

Status: Scam / Phishing

Fake Link: solarpunk-join.com

Official Access: Steam only

Reported On: June 25, 2025

Discord message promoting a fake Solarpunk Steam playtest with a phishing link to solarpunk-join.com, designed to mimic official game invites.

⚠️ The Scam

Multiple Discord users have reported a message spreading across servers claiming that the Solarpunk open beta is available and inviting users to join a Steam playtest. The message includes a suspicious link to solarpunk-join.com and a fake image preview that mimics Steam’s UI.

Warning: This is not an official Steam link, and the website is not affiliated with the developers or Valve.

How It Works

The scam works by exploiting player excitement and curiosity:

  • Claims that Solarpunk is available via Steam playtest
  • Redirects users to a fraudulent site (solarpunk-join.com)
  • Attempts to:
    • Steal Steam credentials
    • Install malware
    • Harvest personal information

🔐 How to Stay Safe

  • NEVER enter your Steam login on third-party sites claiming to offer playtests.
  • Always check a game’s official Steam page or developer channels for access info.
  • Enable Steam Guard and two-factor authentication (2FA).
  • If you already clicked and entered information, change your password immediately and run a malware scan.

Final Tip

If something seems too good to be true — like instant beta access to a popular game — it probably is. Always double-check links and announcements before clicking.
