Norwegian indie studio Ananki Game Studio brings Vikings, Norse mythology, alien worlds, and action tower defense together in its PC strategy game.
The Fate of Baldr launched globally on Steam on May 22, 2024, marking a major milestone for Oslo-based Ananki Game Studio after years of development.
The game puts players in control of Viking space warriors defending their ship against waves of enemies and mythical bosses. Vikings Meet Action Tower Defense
The Fate of Baldr blends tower-defense strategy with third-person action and a setting built around Norse mythology. Players defend their Viking ship while gathering resources, improving their skills, and preparing for increasingly dangerous encounters.
The journey takes players across the Nine Worlds of Norse mythology, where different enemies and mythical bosses put their defenses to the test. The game supports both single-player and online cooperative play.

An Indie Triumph from Oslo
At the time of launch, Ananki Game Studio had three full-time developers working on the project: André Kråkenes as CEO and programmer, Asia as 2D artist, and Anders as 3D artist and programmer. The Oslo-based team brought more than a decade of combined experience to the project.
After three years of developing The Fate of Baldr, I am extremely proud of my team. We have worked very hard every day and are now releasing a game fitting of a much larger studio. I hope that supporters of indie games will try it out and enjoy the unique experience we have created,
