Three new climbing spots, water soloing, and the option to climb as Aava or Marco on PC and PS5 this summer.
Cairn is already getting its first free DLC. Revealed by The Game Bakers on April 9, On the Trail: Deep Water is the first entry in the studio’s new On the Trail series, with a summer 2026 release window on PC and PS5.
According to the official DLC page, On the Trail: Deep Water adds three new climbing spots: the cliffs of Haken and Ruka, plus the Lamu climbing gym. It also introduces water soloing, letting players climb over water without the usual deadly punishment of a fall.

Steam also confirms players can climb as Aava or Marco, including on Kami in free roam mode. The broader On the Trail setup is built around following the path of a legendary climber and uncovering the history of these new locations.
For players already following Cairn, this looks like a smart next step. You can also read our earlier Cairn review, our launch coverage, and our demo feature.
