Roadside Research game – Four aliens disguised as gas station workers under a canopy

Game of the Week #12: Roadside Research Hits 150K Wishlists – Aliens, Gas Pumps, and DNA Collection

Posted on July 16, 2025May 2, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

The indie invasion is working.

Who knew that running a gas station could be so… extraterrestrial? Roadside Research just passed 150,000 wishlists on Steam — not bad for a game where you’re a disguised alien serving snacks and secretly harvesting DNA.

So why did I pick it as Game of the Week?
Well — I think this twist of an angle can really make the whole genre more fun than most of the dry, soulless “life simulators” out there. It’s not just about cleaning messes and flipping burgers. It’s about blending in while your real job is undercover research. And that’s hilarious.

What Makes It Special?

Here’s a sneak peek at the alien-fueled madness — gas station chaos meets undercover sci-fi.

  • Original Concept: Aliens running a roadside business while pretending to be human? Instantly more fun than farming carrots.
  • Solo or Co-op: Play alone or bring up to 3 other undercover agents into the chaos.
  • Streamer Gold: It’s built for funny moments — the kind of game that breaks into viral clips fast.

Roadside Research

Release Date: TBA

Genre: Simulation, Co-op, Comedy

Developer: Cybernetic Walrus

Publisher: Oro Interactive

Tags: Aliens, Funny, Management, Multiplayer

Platforms: PC (Steam)

Missed last week’s pick? Catch up on Game of the Week 11: Forest Asylum 2.

People are clearly curious. Whether it’s the sci-fi spin, Overcooked-style team play, or just the absurd charm — Roadside Research is gaining real momentum. If it sticks the landing, it could easily become a new co-op favorite.
